Ouarzazate – the gateway to the Sahara was built as a stopover for trade travelers. The high stone and clay walls date back to Gerrisonsstadt times under French colonial rule. It’s no surprise that movies have been filmed here for quite a long time, and Ouarzazate can be seen in the epic productions like Lawrence of Arabia and Game of Thrones.
