The blue buildings and it’s location in the beautiful Moroccan mountains make Chefchaouen a popular day trip from Tangier. However, this wasn’t always so easy: after the foundation in the 15th century and the expulsion of the Moors and Jews, the city became a Muslim pilgrimage site and was forbidden for all Christians. This has luckely changed in the early 20th century.
