Camparino in Galleria
At the Piazza del Duomo entrance to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is Milan’s most celebrated bar. Know until recently as Zucca, it’s been there since the Galleria opened in 1867. Former guests of that bar include Mr. Verdi and Mr. Toscanini. Its interior, listed as historic monument drips with belle epoque detail: the mosaics, the wrought-iron chandeliers and the carved bar itself.
P.S. Insider tip – coffee is rather costly with a price of 4 – 5 EUR. Saying that – it is twice as expensive as the coffee in McDonald’s next door but Camparino in Galleria comes with a unique ambiance and glamor.
P.S.2 What do you think the barkeeper was thinking when I took this picture? He looks quite surprised, doesn’t he?
